 Jasprit Bumrah has been in deep trouble when comes to his fitness. His back injury has become unsolved mystery for the doctors and himself. He has been declared fit numerous times but fails to play any competitive match. He is set to miss IPL 2023, Doubtful for World Test Championship finals if india qualifies.

 Ever since Jasprit Bumrah has made his Test Debut in South Africa things has not went well for him. Because of increase workload he is getting injured on regular basis. Some cricket pundits even warned BCCI to take care of his workload as his action is quite unorthodox and less suited for Test cricket. In Test cricket Bowler has to ball long spells when compared to white ball format. So he was always doubtful whether he has physical fitness that is needed to play Test cricket.

In years Jasprit Bumrah has been a dominant force in Mumbai Indians bowling setup. He was there goto Bowler in death overs and has won many matches for them which has resulted in mant ipl titles for Mumbai Indians. He use to ball in powerplay and death overs there. When he was fully fit he use to win matches for MI at his will. But ever since he has got injured he has not been that force for them. In Last two seasons for Mumbai Indians he has been able to perform at that level.

Jasprit Bumrah injury Timeline

He was first injured before of England tour but that injury doesn’t have anything to do with his back injury as he injured his thumb while taking a return catch in Ireland.
Jasprit Bumrah played 2019 cricket World Cup with full fitness and performed pretty well in 50 overs worldcup in England.
Later in the year India went to West Indies for a full tour of T20, Test and ODI. Jasprit Bumrah registered his hattrick there. After the long tour of West Indies, Indian came back home. Jasprit Bumrah went to fitness test where he complained about back stiffness. On going through the tests it was reported that Bumrah has suffered a lower back stress fracture. He went for rehab and missed Nelson Mandela Test series against South Africa at home and later missed a test series against Bangladesh.
He then went to Newzealand tour there he played odi’s and 5 T20 international matches then went to Australia tour. Later in the year he played IPL 2020 held in Dubai where his performance was average.
Then he played for IPL 2021 which was completed in two phases, half of the tournament held in india in April and half of the event held in Dubai. 
India then played in Worldcup T20 2021 held in Dubai where India was knocked out of the tournament in group stage.
After Bumrah back injury former Pakistan fast Bowler Shoaib Akhtar in an interview told that “Bumrah now have to pick and choose the matches he need to play, now he can’t Play a complete tournament due to his compromised back “. He also described his bowling action as frontal where main laod of the bowling is on the shoulders and back. He advised that a Bowler with frontal action who sustained a back injury has hardly played for long. He gave the examples of Ian Bishop and Shain Bond. He told Bowler with side on has less risk of back injury.

Bumrah played the complete IPL in 2022. He later got injured. He made comeback against Australia in T20s but complained about his stiff back and went to NCA. He missed the Asia Cup and the Worldcup T20 held in Australia. Since then he hasn’t made his comeback and missing the tournament.
He is now set to Miss IPL 2023 and will even miss WTC final if India qualifies for the finals.
BCCI wants jasprit Bumrah to be fully fit for 50 over WORLDCUP that is going to take place in India later in the year. BCCI doesn’t want to hurry Bumrah comeback, they are monitoring his Fitness at NCA.
