India started Day 3 at 36-0 in 10 overs. Both openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were looking good they spent well fought half an hour on the crease and scored runs. But Rohit Sharma played a loose shot to short cover at the bowling of kuhnemann and got out after scoring 35 runs. Pujara came at no.3 started scoring runs alongside Shubman Gill, who was set at the other end.
The pair went unbeaten at lunch and gave some hard to Aussies. In the post lunch session Australians set very attacking field and stopped runs scoring opportunities for India. It got harder for batters to find the singles, odd boundaries were coming here and there. Shubman Gill batted beautifully and reached his second test century at his IPL home venue. It was a great display of shot making from Shubman Gill. Just before the tea break Cheteshwar Pujara was trapped LBW by Todd Murphy, Pujara reviewed it but he was plumb in front of the wicket. Pujara scored well fought 42 in 121 balls.
Virat was welcomed by big roar when he arrived at the crease. Just one over left before the tea. Virat Kohli had a hard time against Nathan Lyon. He edged one to short leg that bounced just front of forward short leg. And the last ball before the tea fell just short of steve smith at first slip.
Post tea session Virat Kohli looked determined and looked to score runs. He got to face fast bowling first time in the series. He hit fours of the bowling of Mitchel starc. Virat started finding his lost rhythm. He didn’t scored a fifty in last 15 innings in test cricket. His last half century came in South African soil. Meanwhile Shubman Gill suffered cramp in his leg and physio was called to address the issue. Shubman Gill got out soon, he miss read the length of Nathon Lyons bowling and played a bowl on backfoot which he should have defended on front foot. He was trapped in front of wicket and adjudged LBW. Gill got out at the score of 128.
At the fall of Gill wicket Ravindra jadeja came to bat at no. 5. He is promoted up the order to maintain left right combination. Virat Kohli also scored his fifty and at the end of day 3 india were 289 for 3. Virat and jadeja are still on the crease and will try to score more runs on day 4.
India still trial by 191 runs and will look to first clear the deficit and later would try to take the lead so that they can put Australia on day 5 pitch. India scoring has been very slow in the match. India looking to go for draw. The cricket fans is missing virat kohli captaincy period when the only goal of team India was  try to win the Test Match and not thinking of the draw. For India to get result in this Test Match they need to score runs at fast pace they are currently going under 3 runs per over. Virat Kohli is set and fans are waiting for his hundred. It’s been three since we have seen any hundred from Virat Kohli in tests. It would be interesting to see how how kohli goes about his business in day 4 of the Test Match. For india to take lead it is very important for Kohli to stay there and score runs.
