Harmaanpreet Kaur Runout and the tales of two World Cup Semifinal exit

Soon after the shocking exit of Indian Women’s cricket team in T20 worldcup fan’s all over the World started comparing this defeat with the India’s men’s cricket defeat in World Cup semifinal in England against Newzealand.

Indian women’s team were up against the mighty Australian team in Semifinal match of the World Cup event. Before the match round of talks were going on Harmanpreet kaur health and fitness as she was suffering from fever. Some people also criticizing her place in the team because her performance with bat in the ongoing tournament was not good.

Thursday contest against Australia was  going to be tougher one because Australia is always the team to beat in T20s international. Australia also has the scars of the past as India defeated them in worldcup semifinal in 50 overs format because of the harmanpreet kaur innings of 170+ runs. Certainly that was the innings of the decade when it comes to talking about the magnitude in India’s Women cricket as they defeated an unbreakable Power back than.

It is always proven that whether you are in the form or not once you get your favourite opposition against you, you are bound to score runs.

Before the game harmanpreet was not in the best of forms but Australian game bring her form back.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat. Their innings started with flurry of boundaries. Their opener Mooney scored a well compiled half century. Indian team pulled the things back in mid innings but Australian captain Lanning had other plans, she scored 49 runs in 34 balls and hit two sixes in last over to take the Australian team score to 173 runs.

Indian team came to bat and the openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana fell cheaply. Indians were at one stage were 28 for 3 but thanks to there middle order batsman Jemimah Rodrigues who scored a quick fire 40 with the captain Harmanpreet Kaur who was not in best of forms in the tournament.

Jemimah got out trying to play a ramp shot but there partnership took india to a respectable total of 97 for 4. Soon after harmanpreet completed her half century and Indian team were cruising at one stage and needed 40 runs in 33 balls but the fate had other plans.

Harmaanpreet Kaur played a flick shot to the deep square leg and ran for taking a brace but while completing her second run her bat got stuck in ground  and she got Runout in a bizzare fashion.

Soons after the match fans on social media started posting the 4 year old video of MS dhoni and started comparing it with that of Harmanpreet kaur’s Runout.

Indian cricket team lucks is not going in its way. We are losing in the semifinals and finals of the World cup be it mens team our womens team. Post 2013 champions trophy India hasn’t won any icc trophy. Indian team need to pinpoint faults in their strategy and need to plan accordingly so that we can atleast hope for men’s fifty over Worldcup that is going to take place this year.
